The Pig 'n Whistle (now Numero Uno)

6718 Hollywood Boulevard
1927 - Morgan, Walls & Clements

The Pig-n-Whistle was one of the most popular sandwich shops on the Boulevard, and as a companion to the movie palaces it was designed, in the ornate Churriqueresque style. The exterior is still largely intact with the Pig-n-Whistle logo in the center of each medallion on the facade. The elegant interior was in keeping with the theatricality which theater-goers of those years came to expect of the Boulevard. The building has a spit personality because its English styled pub interior is now around the corner at Miceli's on Las Palmas.
