How To Become a PA

(Production Assistant) or TV Studio Page

Regardless of your pay rate, it is important to keep all of your paperwork from every job. If you eventually want to become a 2nd AD, then you will need this paperwork to join the Directors Union. To be eligible to join the Union for Directors and Assistant Directors, you must have worked as a PA for more than 600 days (300 must be shooting days), and have the paper work to prove it. The only acceptable way to prove it is to have every pay stub, crew list, call sheet, production report, and contract for each and every day you worked as a PA. It is your responsibility to collect these things because it shows the Directors Guild of America (DGA) that you are determined. We go into greater detail about this in the Assistant Director’s booklet available at StudioJobs.com.
