There is one association out there that does represent the elite Stunt Artist and their push for a union. This organization is the Stuntmen’s Association of Motion Pictures (SAMP). SAMP is an advocate of keeping amateurs from becoming stunt professionals and working on productions that can and will lead to preventable injuries. They are more of a Fraternal Order of Stunt Artist and are the oldest and most prestigious of all the stunt associations. It is very difficult to become a member of SAMP.
You have to make at least a $100,000 a year as a Stunt Artist for three years in a row. You must have worked on a minimum of three separate projects with five different members of the group and get their recommendation to be in the organization. Membership into SAMP comes by invitation only and only after a board has voted to accept you as a pledge and then entire membership votes in majority to have you invited in.
